Posted by: admin | Category: vitamin supplements | Comments (7)

Learn about Vitamin C benefits, the food sources that contain Vitamin C, and the RDA, in this vitamin supplements video from Howcast. Video transcript: Hi, I’m Molly Lee, and I’m founder and director of energizingnutrition.com, a holistic health and nutrition practice based in New York City. The recommended daily allowance for vitamin C in healthy male’s age 19 to 30 years old is 90 milligrams a day. For healthy females age 19 to 30 years old is 75 milligrams a day. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant which helps prevent cancer, boost your immunity, and is great for your skin. Foods that are high in vitamin C are really colorful so, look for the brightly colored fruits and vegetables such as citrus fruits, dark leafy greens, papayas, kiwis, and oranges. Other fruit you may not know about is called acerola, also known as a West Indian cherry. In Brazil, you can find acerola juice on every corner and this is one of my favorite drinks. If you’re feeling run-down and you’re unable to get vitamin C from your food sources, it might be a good idea to consider taking a vitamin C supplement as a good solution. Vitamin Supplements: How to Store and Take Vitamins Properly (April 28, 2012 )

Posted by: admin | Category: vitamin supplements | Comments (3)

Learn how to store and take vitamins properly in this vitamin supplements video from Howcast. Video transcript: Hi, I’m Molly Lee, and I’m founder and director of energizingnutrition.com, a holistic health and nutrition practice based in New York City. When storing vitamins, you want to make sure they’re in a cool, dry place away from heat or humidity. So a lot of people store their vitamins in a medicine cabinet, but actually that’s not the ideal place because in a bathroom, there’s a lot of moisture from the sink and the shower. The best place is actually somewhere like the bedroom, where there are no fluctuations in the humidity, or maybe a dry pantry away from the kitchen. If vitamins soften or start to develop dark spots, it’s best not to take them because this means they’re probably breaking down and have also lost their potency. You probably know this already, but a reminder not to take vitamins on an empty stomach, that way you avoid feeling nauseous. As well, just make sure to keep vitamins and supplements out of reach and away from small children. Thanks for watching Vitamin Supplements: How to Store and Take Vitamins Properly! Learn if pregnant women should take a prenatal vitamin in this vitamin supplements video from Howcast. Video transcript: Hi, I’m Molly Lee, and I’m founder and director of energizingnutrition.com, a holistic health and nutrition practice based in New York City. My pregnant clients and friends often ask me, “”Should I take a prenatal vitamin?”" The answer is yes. Prenatal vitamins are specially formulated multivitamins, which include calcium, folic acid, and iron, in addition to all the other essential vitamins a mother needs. Calcium is important for an expecting mother because it helps build bones. Folic acid is really important because it helps prevent birth defects. And iron helps both mother and baby carry oxygen in their body. In addition to these necessary supplements, it’s extremely important for an expecting mother to make sure she’s getting a balanced diet full of fresh fruits, vegetables, and high quality proteins, as you can see here. Vitamin Supplements: Vitamin for Skin (December 24, 2011 )

Posted by: admin | Category: vitamin supplements | Comments (4)

Handle any emergency with Howcast’s First Aid app – howc.st Learn about vitamins for skin in this vitamin supplements video from Howcast. Video transcript: Hi, I’m Molly Lee, and I’m founder and director of energizingnutrition.com, a holistic health and nutrition practice based in New York City. Some great vitamins for your skin are the powerful antioxidant vitamins A, C and E. These vitamins are great for your skin because they help prevent aging, wrinkles, and fine lines. The best sources of antioxidants are from foods such as the ones you see here: dark leafy greens, broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, and also a variety of nuts like sunflower seeds, almonds, and hazelnuts. Out of the B complex vitamins, vitamin B7, which is also known as biotin is great for the skin. Biotin is important because it’s the nutrient that forms the foundation of hair, skin, and nail cells. Without adequate amounts it can lead to itchy, scaly, dry skin, hair, and nails. Even a mild deficiency can cause such symptoms. Some great natural sources of biotin include eggs, rice, bananas, and oatmeal. Thanks for watching Vitamin Supplements: Vitamin for Skin!
